Dear colleagues,

As our academic year comes to a close, I want to thank you for your hard work, partnership and innovation in carrying out our academic mission. This moment also marks the nearing end of my first year, a time that has been both exciting and deeply informative. I've learned so much about the campus, how we work and the vital roles you play.

As I write this, I’m looking forward to my first CU Boulder commencement. I’m deeply grateful to the many staff volunteers whose time, care and behind-the-scenes work make this celebration possible, and to staff who partner year-round with faculty to make our academic mission succeed. If you’re a faculty member who has registered for breakfast and to participate in the procession into the stadium, please watch for a “know-before-you-go” ememo with important details to help you prepare for the day.

This is our last edition of Provost’s Post for the spring semester, and it’s a robust issue: 

• In the Perspectives section, read part two of a three-part series on the values I bring to leadership and decision-making. In this piece, I focus on basing our collective leadership and progress on facts and clear collective understanding. Also in Perspectives, you can learn about the work the SPIKE center has done this year to focus efforts on sustainability education as an institutional priority
• Explore where we stand with the shared values project and how our Buff Experience Transformation is being implemented
• Meet our new Sesquicentennial Faculty Scholars and our inaugural Community Belonging Award recipients
• Finally, I hope you’ll take a moment to watch this in which I highlight some of our other achievements in the academic mission this semester.

I wish you all a successful close to the academic year, a great commencement, and some down time this summer to enjoy family and friends. Thank you all again for welcoming me this year to this new and exciting adventure of CU Boulder.
