Fellowships for CU Boulder Faculty

The Bruce D. Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization invites applications from CU Boulder faculty for the 2026-27 Faculty Fellowship. The fellowship supports faculty interested in engaging in the intellectual life of the Benson Center, connecting with colleagues across disciplines, and pursuing a better understanding of the ideas, institutions, and interactions that have shaped Western Civilization.

Faculty Fellow duties

Faculty fellows participate actively in the Benson Center's programming throughout the academic year, including attending public lectures, presenting in faculty workshops, and hosting undergraduate student events. Fellows are also encouraged to propose new events or lead sessions that bring their own expertise into conversation with the Center's mission. In addition, Faculty Fellows serve on the selection committee for the Benson Center's undergraduate fellows program.

What the Center provides

Faculty Fellows receive a grant or stipend between $4,000 and $12,000, commensurate with duties performed. Fellows also join an interdisciplinary intellectual community, with access to the Benson Center's regular programming, including reading groups, seminars, and dinners with visiting scholars and speakers.Ìý

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to faculty from any academic discipline across the CU Boulder campus.

Application Instructions

  1. A one-page cover letter that addresses the following:
    1. Your research interests and how they relate to the Center's mission
    2. Your commitment to attend Benson Center events throughout the year
    3. Your willingness to serve on the undergraduate fellows selection committee
    4. Your interest in organizing (i) student, (ii) faculty, or (iii) public events
    5. Your preferred form of stipend: extra compensation or professional development funds
  2. A current curriculum vitae

Application materials should be submitted through the CU job board. The application for AY 2026-27 will open May 17, 2026. Applications received by May 31, 2026 will receive full consideration.
