Annual Registration

All recognized student organizations (RSOs) and recognized socialGreek organizations (RSGOs) are required annually to re-register their organizationwith the Center for Student Involvement – it’s how we know you are still up and running.

Items you will need to re-register
  • Advisor information
    • Starting in fall 2025, Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) at CU Boulder will be required to have a faculty or staff member serve as an advisor. This change is taking place because we know that having an advisor can increase an organization’s effectiveness, provide a more engaging experience for students within the organization, and can create a strong connection with campus departments.
  • Who can be an advisor?
    • Advisors must be current CU Boulder faculty/staff members, or a graduate student who serves as a CU Boulder GA/TA/RA/GPTI.
    • Graduate-led organizations must have a faculty or staff advisor (cannot be a graduate student).
    • Your CSI Liaison cannot be your advisor.
  • The Re-Registration form will ask for advisor information if you already have one.
    • If your organization does not provide an advisor's name during the registration process, you will have until Dec. 19 to find one and complete this . Failure to claim an advisor will result in the organization going into bad standing with the Center for Student Involvement.
  • Updated bylaws
    • RSOs/RSGOs will be required to have updated bylaws. These bylaws must have specific sections included that are part of the RSO/RSGO Agreement they sign during the re-registration process. Access the template under ‘Basic bylaw articles.’

Re-registration timeline

  • Registration begins annually on July 1.
  • The priority deadline for re-registering for the year is Sept. 30.
    • If you miss this deadline, you will be placed in ‘bad standing’ for the 2025-2026 academic year. Be aware that this will impact your access and reservations across campus until you complete the process.
  • If you miss the Sept. 30 deadline, you will need to complete the following steps:
    • Email studentorganizations@colorado.edu for an extension. Your portal will then be temporarily reactivated.
    • Attend an RSO training in October. Note: October will only have two RSO Training options for those seeking an extension.
    • Complete the Re-Registration Form by Oct. 17.

Please note: There will be no further extensions after October; student organizations who fail to complete the process will be considered ‘bad standing’ for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Are you a Recognized SocialGreek Organization (RSGO)? Multicultural Greek and National Panhellenic Organizations must complete re-registration by Sept. 30. Panhellenic and CU Interfraternity Council organizations must complete re-registration by March 8.

RSO renewal steps

1. Initiate your re-registration on BuffConnect

Current (or pending) organization administrators will be able to:

  • Log into
  • Select “Clubs & Organizations” from the left-hand menu bar.
  • Search for your specific RSO/RSGO.
  • Click the blue “+ Group Re-Registration” button that appears next to the organization name. If you do not see this button it most likely means that another leader for your organization has submitted the form.

If you have concerns, please email studentorganizations@colorado.edu and we can let you know your status. If you are receiving error messages with the re-registration forms it is likely that you are not an official Organization Administrator - please work with your organization leadership to have yourself added.

2. Attend an annual RSO training

Managing an RSO carries a great deal of responsibility, requiring skills and knowledge to succeed. Know CSI is here for your success, thus our training covers everything you need to know about managing your RSO, such asresources and benefits, fundingand university policies/procedures.It is also a great way to ask questions while getting to know other student leaders.

Each RSO is required to attend one annual RSO training. Trainings are offered virtually. Only one member from the organization is required to attend, but we encourage you to send members who serve in officer/leadership roles (and haven't attended the training previously) to represent the group.

How do I sign up for a training?

  • Youcannot attend on behalf of more than one student organization.
  • You are not expected to prepare for this training.
  • RSVP is requiredand registrations must be received within 24 hours prior to the training date.
  • You will need to be a current Organization Administrator (or in process) to RSVP for these events.

Trainings

Once you have access to BuffConnect and have completed step one above, you will see the Annual RSO Trainings listed in the . The organization administrator who submitted the re-registration form in step one should RSVP for a training.

3. CSI will process your information

After your organization submits your re-registration form within BuffConnect and at least one representative attends an Annual RSO Training on behalf of your organization – there is no further action needed from you! CSI will process any email password changes, add/remove your organization administrator updates and ensure you have the correct access levels within BuffConnect.

You can check the status of your re-registration at any point by logging in to BuffConnect and opening the left-hand menu and navigating to My Activity > My Surveys & Forms.

Ensure youve completed these requirements prior to Sept. 30. Questions? for help.
