What Is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)?Ìý

A chartered financial analyst (CFA) is a globally-recognized professional designation given by theÌý, (formerly the AIMR (Association for Investment Management and Research)), that measures and certifies the competence and integrity of financial analysts. Candidates are required to pass three levels of exams covering areas, such as accounting, economics, ethics, money management, and security analysis.

Why is it Important?

Widely considered the apex for professional development in investment management, the CFA designation is valued by employers for roles and functions in every sector of the global finance industry, including portfolio management, analysis, private wealth, and consulting. But the CFA charter also equips professionals with the versatility to take their career paths in different directions.

The Leeds School of Business is an Affiliated University of the CFA

TheÌýÌýrecognizes academic institutions that embed a significant portion of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) into their curriculum. Both the Undergraduate Finance Emphasis and MS Finance programs are affiliated. The Affiliation program provides scholarships and other benefits. Currently enrolled Juniors, Seniors and Graduate students can apply for and sit for the exam at any time. Please also and reach out to Matthew.Fleming@colorado.edu to discuss.
